Absentia - Anna Starzomska

Photography is very important for me – thanks to it we can capture important moments, that in a way become immortal. In taking pictures however, I am most passionate about the possibility of creating a new, fantastic reality. For this I use clothes and accessories that I design and create. For many years, corsets have been my passion and were often featured in my photos. Perfectionism, which can make everyday life difficult, has become my ally in photography, allowing me to notice and refine important details.

Experience

My fascination with photography began 14 years ago. Initially, I acted only as a model and a fashion stylist, but over time I realized that taking photos and their processing gives me the greatest satisfaction. It prompted me to buy my first SLR camera and delve into the subject of photographic art. Since then, I have been constantly developing my workshop and investing in new equipment. I have a registered business in the field of photographic services as well as fashion designing and sewing.
Besides photography, I specialize in visual effects for films and commercials, as well as prop making for film sets. I took part in productions such as: Night Silence, Hellhole, Nobody Sleeps In The Woods Tonight, 100 dni do matury, Sexify and TV commercials. I am a graduate of master’s studies in Pedagogy at the University of Warsaw, where one of my specializations was teaching art. Subjects related to painting, history and theory of art were among my favorites and gave me support in further independent education.

From the private side

As an introvert, I appreciate working in a small group and a calm, friendly atmosphere.  In my spare time, I practice singing, playing the piano and drawing. My favorite book is The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath.  I love all animals, that’s why I’m vegan. My dream is to create an asylum for animals rescued from factory farms.

I love being in the company of plants. Flowering trees and shrubs are one of my main inspirations. Driving into the unknown and looking for new, interesting places for photos is one of my favorite ways to spend weekends.
